Four in Hand finds a cowboy watering the horses in the sweltering western heat. Notice the fine, historic saddles. While I was painting it, a young cowboy watched me, and gave me a real horsemen's compliment--"Nice gaskins. Most people don't get them right".(A gaskin is the rounded upper back leg above the hock, and below the stifle and body...oops, more horse anatomy!) Drawing them at an angle beautifies the curves, but you have to know the shapes with every pose. I have had the best mentors to learn from.
